The Zanochowskis always use the entrance from their garage, as their main entrance into the house. However, they were never happy with the small size of this entrance, due to an impeding staircase. By raising the foyer floor only 7", we were able to eliminate one of the steps, and add another 10" of width to the foyer. By adding some walls to the foyer, we created a separate space for the living room, and a separate space for the foyer-- making both spaces appear larger. We also enclosed underneath the staircase, leaving a small access door so that the family could still use underneath the staircase as storage. A small closet was created for handy storage of regularly used jackets and shoes.

The entire space received a makeover-- new flooring, paint, trim, lighting, and furniture.

A cozy, yet stylish, living room was created by using comfortable materials. A plush shag area rug, a microfiber sofa, down filled throw pillows, and a wall mounted fireplace all contributed to add warmth and comfort to the space. The sectional was even purchased as a sleeper sofa, so that the basement could double as a suite for overnight guests.

A custom bar was built with a stone surround, and included a wine fridge, mini fridge, sink, and cabinetry. A custom upper cabinet was also built for storage of glasses and liquor. 2 televisions and sound systems were added, creating a perfect space for family, and friends.
